Atlas showing a shelf of drives grouped by location

Your shelf

A shelf you can see.

Each drive is drawn the way it looks in real life, with its colour, label and tape, and grouped by where it physically lives. Drag a drive to a new location when it moves.

Search

Every file on every drive.

Search the whole collection at once, even drives that are unplugged. Filter by drive, file type or number of copies. Built for millions of files.

Search results for 'raw' across all drives

Browse

One big disk, in your head.

Open any drive's folders from a single tree, biggest first. No more plugging in four drives to remember where a project went.

Copies

Backup, or just waste?

Two copies on two drives is a backup. Two on the same drive is waste. Atlas finds every duplicate and shows exactly how much space is safe to reclaim.

Team sync · In development

One catalogue for the whole house.

Editorial, VFX and post teams share drives, and the drives move around. Atlas keeps one catalogue in sync for everyone, so the producer, the assistant editor and the machine room see the same shelf.

Private workspace

Each studio gets its own catalogue, separate from every other client.

Background sync

Scans and edits reach teammates on their own. No publish button, and nothing is lost if the connection drops.

Full history

Every change is kept with who made it and when.

Invite by email

Add teammates and give each a role.

Admin

Runs the studio

Invites and removes people, sets roles and manages the account.

Editor

Keeps it current

Scans drives, edits labels and moves drives between locations.

Viewer

Finds what they need

Searches and browses everything. Can't change anything.

Backup vs. waste

Two copies on two drives is a backup. Two on the same drive is waste. Atlas tells you which.

Safe by design

Scans are read-only. Atlas never changes or deletes anything on your drives.

Free space at a glance

Bars turn amber, then red, as drives fill, with plain words like "Almost full".

Native Mac feel

Sidebar, inspector, menu bar shortcuts, undo, dark mode and full keyboard control.

Beta

Where Atlas is today.

The catalogue is built and in daily use. Team sync is the next milestone.

Working now

  • Built for scale. Tested with more than 3 million files across dozens of drives. Typical searches take about a tenth of a second.
  • Read-only scans. Stopping a scan midway leaves the existing index untouched.
  • Your Mac, too. Catalogue external drives and your Mac's own disk.
  • Duplicate detection. Backups and surplus copies are told apart.

Coming next

  • Team sync. The server, accounts, roles and history are built and tested. Hosting and in-app sign-in are in progress.
  • Change history screen. See who moved or edited what, and when.
  • Signed installer and automatic updates. Beta builds are installed by hand for now.
  • Settings. Default scan scope and other preferences.
